Research Volunteers Needed
All around the country research related to indefinite life extension is continuing. While there is no treatment currently available to cure the terminal disease of aging, there are tantalizing prospects which have emerged over the last several years.
C.E.L. is compiling a list of individuals who would be interested in becoming clinical research volunteers. We will offer the list to legitimate researchers who are seeking participants in experiments to prevent aging and extend life. Obviously, there is no obligation on your part to become involve in any particular study but C.E.L. will keep you up to date on any opportunities available.

"Let's face it, aging isn't the same in humans and yeast," said Jef Boeke, a yeast geneticist at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Besides, he said, sirtuins are potent molecules, and in cranking them up, "one would have to be very careful about potential side effects." The new study caps a three-year string of discoveries involving sirtuins (pronounced sir-TOO-ins), a class of enzymes that are found in virtually every organism, including bacteria, plants and people. As with all enzymes, their job is to promote essential biochemical reactions inside cells.

For longevity researchers, the hottest of these genes right now may be one controlling "insulin-like growth factor" (IGF), a protein made in the liver. In January, French researchers reported in the journal Nature that mice genetically engineered without IGF genes live about 26% longer than their gene-equipped counterparts.

As its first major organizing effort the Coalition to Extend Life is attempting to collect 1,000,000 signatures on petitions demanding government support of scientific and medical research designed to combat aging and furthering the goal of unlimited life extension.We need your help! If you can print out a few of the petitions and circulate them among friends and relatives your contribution will be invaluable. On one hand you will be helping C.E.L. reach its' goal of 1,000,000 signatures and at the same time you will be making others aware of this vitally important issue.Please take a few minutes of your time to help us in this important task. A Letter from the Founder
As cognizant human beings we know that heretofore all people have reached a point where they die. This existential truth weaves its' way thru art, philosophy, religion, medicine, science, and other intellectual undertakings that attempt to understand our existence. Over the course of history there have been attempts to cure the insidious disease of aging but no "Fountain of Youth" has been found to halt the inevitable disintegration for our body, and its' ultimate demise.
Death is a mystery that is hard to comprehend. Like any mystery, though, it can be solved. In laboratories all over this world scientists are beginning to explain why cells age and die and how they can be rejuvenated. Breakthroughs on the biochemical processes that cause aging allow us to achieve immortality. The Coalition to Extend Life is dedicated to combating aging and promoting immortality for all. The struggle will not be easy. Immortality will change how we look at the world, and quite frankly many people fear new ideas and will vehemently oppose the radical transformation that will occur. Therefore, it is necessary to begin now!
I decided to start this organization because I do not look forward to death. I hope you feel the same way. Obviously, this is an idealistic goal but when you consider the alternatives, it makes a great deal of sense to fight for your dream, especially since it is within your grasp.
I sincerely hope you will be an active member of C.E.L. Together we can build a movement and create a society in which people can live indefinitely.
I am dedicating my life to this cause since I am not getting any younger; and neither are you.

Group Formed To Promote Immortality As A National Priority
The Coalition to Extend Life, (C.E.L.), a recently created organization whose purpose is to build a national movement in support of immortality research and to press Congress and the Administration to create a"Manhattan Project" dedicated to curing the terminal disease of aging, is
announcing that its website www.coalitiontoextendlife.org is on line and its' plan to solicit 1,000,000 signatures of American voters is underway. Founder and Executive Director, Tom Mooney, said "the idea of a political movement to promote the funding of scientific research into the causes of aging and to demand that our elected leaders perceive this as a national priority has become a reality." While the goals of C.E.L. may seem quixotic to some, significant research is being done into the reasons why we age and finally die. It is essential that significant resources be allocated to this field of study in order to extend our lives indefinitely.
C.E.L. will organize around the country and work tirelessly to give a new meaning to the phrase, "pro-life."
